Winter tires

Recommended Posts

I don't see winter tires mentioned many times. I am thinking about buying a set. I am in Canada and some times it can be really bad with snow followed by freezing rain etc. I was wondering if I should go to 18" and a corresponding higher profile to reduce the possible damage from pot holes etc. Right now I have the OEM 245/45r20 Michelin MXV4 primacy tires. Any one with good suggestion? I know I have to go with new wheels with TPMS sensors etc. Thanks in advance.

Thank you for the recommendation. If I am buying new, I definitely will go for them. A decade or so ago, I had a BMW 735i and a set of Blizzacks on a separate rims for winter and they made that RWD BMW driveable in winter here in the great north. However, if I get a package deal with rims, sensors and tires I don't have much choice. So far, however, the stock michelins are doing OK and I may postpone buying the winter set to early spring.
