"Movember" Fundraiser Help Requested.....

To all of my fellow EBOF members.....

I was approached a couple of weeks ago by a co-worker at my agency, who had a family member recently diagnosed with testicular cancer.

This co-worker had since learned of a fund raising campaign that helps collect funds for issues related to Men's Health, including testicular cancer.

I was asked to help participate by growing a moustache for the month of November and this fundraising campaign is affectionately called "Movember" (for moustaches in November).

More information on this can be found by going here: http://us.movember.com/about/

I have joined three of my fellow co-workers on my night shift, to create the group called "The Smugtastic Mouth Brows".

There are additional co-workers (that work other shifts) who have created their own teams respectively.

I am asking that you consider making a donation, in any amount you feel comfortable with, so that not only my co-worker's family member can benefit from the treatment for his diagnosed condition, but more so in an overall sense of Men's Health.

I have created a user profile where donations can be made, and that can be found here: http://us.movember.com/mospace/6005993

I did post up an avatar picture of Will Farrell as Ron Burgundy in "Anchorman" as most of my co-workers have openly communicated how much I resemble that character on those occasions where I've grown moustaches in the past, just for the heck of it.

Please pass this info along to any one else with whom you'd think would also consider making a donation likewise.

Thanks in advance. I do appreciate it, as I know my co-worker's family would appreciate it as well. :hail:

7 days left 'til November ends, as such, off will go the mustache.

Due to many requests, I will be posting a pic here (at the end of the month) prior to removing it.

I was hoping to have at least one, or two donations from the community here, but alas nothing as of yet.

Any amount any of you can provide would be appreciated. Donations are fully tax deductable.

Please follow the link in my original post, click on the link that brings you to my "Movember" page, then click on "Donate To Me" and follow the instructions.

I'm currently leading my team in donations, and I'd like to keep it that way as the month is quickly drawing to a close.

I hope everyone had an enjoyable Thanksgiving.

I shaved my mustache as I have too many meetings with new potential clients and most of the people aren't aware of the movember, so too long to explain every time and I really look like a dum a$$. So, instead of it, I will just donate to the cause Mike and I choose you.

I will donate next week (I put a note in my agenda), as soon as I receive my new credit card (I received a phone call this AM from Master Card to inform me that my card has been compromised... 2000$ spent in Malaysia!!!). Anyways, count on my sypport buddy, $ should arrive before month ends, no worries... Please feel free to PM me if you haven't seen my contribution by next Friday.

I encourage everyone as well to do the same, every dollar counts, so even a 5$ can make a difference.

Cheers!

Thanks Steve.

Sorry you had to bow out my friend. But understandly so.....

They do look pretty ridiculous, and I have been trimming mine on occassion to mimick my porn stash idol Will Farrell as Ron Burgundy in AnchorMan.

So ummm yea.......

Hopefully I can raise a few more bucks for Cancer Research as it relates to Men, as well as Men's Health issues / research in general. :thumb:

Mike this is a great cause, and I will be making a donation in the near future...(don't have my CC info handy at the moment) I really like this issue as it relates to men's health since I've heard a bunch of horror stories about how man with breast cancer have been treated very badly and had trouble getting help with this issue. Keep up the good work, and keep reminding us to donate early and often!

Just sent my donation over. Didn't know whether to click on donate to your or your team, so I just did you.

As I said before, my team at work opted for 'no shave November'. I rarely have any facial hair, to keep clean for work, so I'm looking kinda scruffy at this point. I did get past the itchy phase thankfully, haha.

Thank you for the donation. Ultimately, each donation goes to the team overall.

But completing one directly to an individual, simply allows for some bragging rights, on which team member was able to obtain 'X' amount of donations.

So, nothing really more than that. Thank you so much once again.

There have been others that have donated recently as well, and to all of those I also offer an expression of gratitude as well. :hail:

Ok, so it's November 30th, 2012. As such, my Wife is anxiously counting down the hours & minutes 'til I get to shave this caterpillar off.

As promised, I am posting the pictures as requested.

So, modeling myself after Will Farrell who played Ron Burgundy in "Anchorman"..... I used that as my motivation to stay the course, even though I've received a crap load of ridicule these past four weeks.

Thank you to all who donated.

I was able to raise a solid $240 total for the month, all of which goes entirely to Men's Testicular & Prostate Cancer Research.

I was the largest fund raiser in my team (of four members). All whom work on the night shift in my agency.

Thank you so much once again for all those who did donate, I really do appreciate it, and maybe I'll consider doing this again next year. :noidea:

Here was my motivator, followed up by two pics taken just now.

Mike your total amount just went up (a little) I finally made my donation (nothing like waiting until the last minute). Gotta say the 'stash does change your appearance....my wife like yours, never cared for facial hair. I grew a full bread several years ago, vowing not to shave until the Steelers won the Super Bowl, and as soon as the game ended, the wife presented me with my razor and orders to get rid of "that thing"! Congrats for doing well with the donations and it is a great cause.

As a side note, you look pretty sharp in the coat and tie!

Lol! Worth every penny Mike! Looks like photo from the 80's.

Now on serious note, congrats on the funds you where able to raise. While a lot of us fellas go around with the attitude "never happen to me!"

I think this cause is a great idea to raise awareness to those of us that think this way.

Great Job RON!

Thanks for the added donation btw.......

Yea, some of those titles were lobbed at me during the month of November for sure..... amongst several others that will go unmentioned.

But yes. I would hate to be in the position of having been diagnosed with either testicular, or prostate cancer. Scary stuff no doubt :RpS_scared:

I suppose with age though, comes unfortunate news for some men however, so in that aspect, and knowing Father Time is ever knocking at my door, I hope to have contributed in some small way, and keep my fingers crossed that I continue to remain healthy as the years pass by.

Thanks once again to all. :yo:
