We are heading out to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks Tomorrow to do some hiking, wildlife photography and site seeing.     I do not want to worry about bad roads or parking dings so we are renting a car for the trip and leaving the Continental safely in the garage.

I have something to look forward to on our return.  I sent a couple of datalogs to AJPturbo who is going to be developing a tune for me.  Hopefully I will have the first version to try out when I return.  It is very interesting to have a tuner analyze a datalog and tell you exactly what he sees your car doing - and not doing.   Apparently, mine has a lot of potential.  Hopefully, we can get it dialed in within just a few revisions.  I do not plan to be in a perpetual state of tuning.   I just hope to get it as quick as my old LMS tuned MKS.  If we can get it quicker, I will not complain!

Hmmmm...... awfully quiet around these parts lately.

Hope everyone is well, and simply enjoying their Summer.

Have to get my lazy ass off couch to go wash and wax her. If I wash her I have to wash wife's escape and if I do that I will have to do the F150. Never ending.

Great hearing from everyone. Glad to hear all is well.

I myself have had a long week.

A/C went out in the 2001 Taurus SE. Crap time for it to have gone. Turned out to be a pinhole leak in one of the lines. With the onset of the repeated 90's, and on again/off again thunderstorms...... yea.

CEL illuminated in the '09 Aspen. Turned out to be an Evap Leak, and also one of the Cats starting to go.

Then, to make matters worse, the youngest daughter, still on her permit, and Mom in the car, got into a rear end collision Wednesday evening on way back from a doctor's appointment.

This on the '06 Nissan Altima. Both air bags deployed. She rear ended a '11 Chevy Suburban. Slid right under the rear bumper. No real damage to the Suburban, cosmetic. However, our Nissan, likely totalled with 130k on the clock.

Ugh. Liability only (which we did purposely as it was/is an older car) so it all comes put of pocket.

Kid was upset, completely apologetic, etc. Storms had just started when it occurred, but traffic was medium at time, so speed was not high, less than 30mph, but enough to cause what damage is shown below:

So yea. Despite all the new parts we've put on it, we are likely S.O.L.

Nobody physically hurt, so that's most important. Shaken up, but not hurt. Mechanic may try to source another used Altima of similar model year, to see if we can swap over new parts to next one (theoretically). If not, then looks like we may just purchase something else outright and move on.

Definitely not the financial hit needed right now, as we just signed up both the oldest kids for their upcoming Fall college year(s).

Oh well. We'll figure it out.

Other than that, not a happy camper this weekend, as I am on shift for ALL OF IT (including Father's Day) & we're at minimum staff levels the entire weekend. Which essentially means for the skeletal crew that is working, we're running our butts off.

Anyhow, hope everyone's doing better than I, and for all the Dad's out there.... Happy Father's Day!

Glad to hear everyone's ok bpd1151, the car can certainly be replaced. I know the feeling myself, my daughter had her first fender bender a couple weeks ago and she was a nervous wreck. I explained to her that's why I got the Buick these things will happen. You get better with experience. And I as well will be working fathers day to big hommie, 8am to 9pm so your certainly not alone there, lol. Happy fathers day to you, and all the other fathers in the SHO business. Everyone be smooth and have a awesome weekend

Before you posted  this thread, I was thinking the same thing. Very quiet here.

I have just been busy with high school graduation, things like that. All good things. I hope everyone had a nice Father's Day as well.  I guess I will  take this opportunity to unabashedly boast.   Mitch graduated Summa Cum Laude  and received a top scholar award and a few other nice commendations. While I'm proud of him for that, I am more proud of the type of person he is. Grades do not automatically come easy for him, like some people.   He worked his butt off to get them.  He got an early acceptance to Michigan State University engineering in October of his senior year, and he is starting there in the Fall. Go Spartans!

He wants to work in the automotive industry, hopefully as some type of project manager or in management. His major is called applied sciences  engineering. It is half business courses and half engineering courses, but it is an engineering degree. We had never heard of it before, but it sounds perfect for what he wants to do, and we certainly live in the right state for him to pursue that kind of career.

With all that happening, don't expect me to be in the market for a new car until my extended warranty with the Lincoln runs out in August, 2019. :-)

mike:

glad daughter was ok, that's the main thing. i think part of the reason insurance is so high is even a small accident is over a grand. car manufacturers have done such a good job of protecting lives but fender benders cost a fortune especially if air bags employ. Been busy it's show time in stl, 2 a weekend until this father's day break, now back to atleast one a weekend through mid aug. actually demoded her by getting some regular headrest somebody was selling. my headrest were being counted in some shows as a mod, besides long ago i decided that i overdid it on it anyway, should have just a small SHO. well took my dd to our ford club's monthly dinner, was late leaving work so didn't get a chance to go by home to pickup the sho which i usually do & hid it the back row at the restaurant, but she doesn't hide well, so caught some grief & going to work one of the leo's in the suburb that i work & live decided that i was making a nuisance of myself by not having a front license plate, nothing else. mike isn't ILL a 2 license plate state as well!!!!

so my mod budget got reduced by $75, no warning nothing, same fine as if my license expired or had no registration. but got around drilling the bumper by using some toggle bolts & lower grill. did get a comment from him that the chally crowd is known for not using front license plates, like we are the only group of cars!!! see mike k pic at this time!!!

wasn't happy especially since MO has a bill in legislator to make us a 1 license plate state.

todd great news about mitch & bruce have fun on trip.

Congrats to Mitch on his graduation and upcoming college experience.  Bruce, hope you have a great trip and the car works great.  Mike V. sorry to hear that you got a ticket...sometimes, you just got to say "Yes sir" and pay the fine.  Hope BPD is having a better week this week.  Things are quiet here in Pennsylvania, but it was rainy here today, and supposed to be rain most of the week...guess I will be spending a lot of time with towels and Quick Detailer this week....
