EB Underbelly Pan with OPEN NASA DUCTS

Recommended Posts

Just took a peek under mine and it looks like the same molded panel as yours but with no openings. I never heard about open and closed NASA panel before. Was this an old thread from before I started snooping??

NOT an old thread, BUT........

This has been discussed in various area(s) throughout this forum, and other communities previously.

I thought that it was an important enough topic, to be listed as it's own individual thread.

Therefore, I suggested to EBB to create a new topic on it.

Thanks to fellow EB Forums PREMIUM MEMBER EcoBrick Bob for following through with the suggestions given :hail:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~BPD "Speaks" I JUMP TO THE MOON.... LOL
For 35,000 mi., my underbelly pan is pretty damn clean on the inside too! Note the scratches on the bottom... Flex is SOOO LOOOW that I can't install it without jacking up one side! Pix are about 3 weeks old.... Another Forum poster requested them, so I produced.
First time ever when I got the 13.5, it wasn't on. Then Torrie told me to leave it on at the strip for both cooling & aero. Next time in FL, it was... Lots of different conditions, DA's etc. and I improved about .07 in 1/4 mi... so have NO idea if it helps or hurts.
I assume that the open pan would fit, as everything else is the same between the undersides of our vehicles back thru cats & mid muffler. Perhaps Livernois could check if they still have their EB Flex.
I love mine. Especially when the rear clips broke off and I drug it under the car for a few miles. Zip ties work wonders. ;)
I had one of my rear clips break too. I got it replaced and a spare, they were only $5.95 from the dealer. Also discovered that when removing the underbody pan, you should loosen the rear of the pan before taking the front off.
EBB, thanks for the photos...looks like a mod then next time I do an oil change. I'm thinking a dremel tool with a cutting wheel may be the way to open the ducts, but I am really surprised that they were not open from the factory. Must be less expensive to produce with the vents closed then to create the openings.
This is what started the whole issue "on another - unnamed- Forum... Some dealer wouldn't get that person the $6. clips and they had to buy the whole damn underbelly pan! This is GOOD NEWS...
PLEASE POST THE PART # as some of us may have this issue in the future.
No, it's the metal piece that "kinda" snaps into the engine cradle that the pieces on the engine cover twist in to. I'll try to get a photo of it tomorrow, since we are in the middle of a thunderstorm and the piece is in the car.
