TractorAK
I am thinking about pulling the trigger is it worth it to also by the airaid system? It's kinda of a lot of money in my world for both but if it is worth it than I will do it.
mhenne4
Let me be the first to say that a tune is the best mod for the money spent. I was apprehensive until I ordered and installed it. The car responds so much better than stock.
Crash712us
Night and day difference, best money I've spent.
TractorAK
I understand that but is it worth the extra money at this time to get the airaid system with it?
mhenne4
honestly the CAI is more noise fluff than actual performance gain, but i justify the purchase on the basis that it allows more efficient airflow in my car and i had the extra cash to spend on it. I can hear the turbos much more post CAI install, and with the stock box the turbos are kinda quiet.
TractorAK
Ok cool thanks, I do like to hear turbos but I think at this time I will hold off due to the extra Holiday spending.
tss
I am an exception. The airaid improved a few things for my car. It seemed to make the in gear idle better, and generally feels better ( throttle response). I purchased the tune first, used it for a few months, and then bought the intake. I am not convinced it made the car faster, but it just feels better. And, I did get my best 0 to 60 time after I had installed it. Lots of other variables though...... TractorAK
Lol ^^ I just ordered the tune will wait for intake. Besides if I get everything at once what will I have to look forward to?
mjhpadi
That's how I did it, got the tune first then installed the intake later. Honestly, the Airaid intake looks great and makes a great impression when you show off the engine compartment, but the tune is really the best performance money I've EVER spent! tss
^^ Absolutely, the tune is mind blowing, the CAI is "neat".
gpfarrell
^^ Absolutely' date=' the tune is mind blowing, the CAI is "neat".[/quote'] I'm glad we seem to think alike... I've got a serious twitch for "mind-blowing" but "neat" can wait awhile. Truthfully, I've intended to get a tune for my MKS since, well, before I had even purchased it. But I wanted to drive it as it was made for a few months to better appreciate the tune's improvement. I'm about ready!
tss
It was fun to see the progressive changes from stock for 5 months, then tuned for 3 months, then CAI added. No more performance mods for me, it does absolutely everything I want. AWD and faster and better gas mileage than an SRT8 and STS-V.
gpfarrell
Well put. Cars can always be made faster, but at some point they become miserable at any commute longer than 1320 feet. I think the tune, cai, and most exhaust mods are still on the sweet end of that trade.
FoMoCoSho
So there are 2 different my Mycals, correct? A basic version and one you can mount and use the screen for gauges?
TractorAK
I think with the 2013 we only have one choice.

racerx78
I know one of the things that that is keeping me from tuning are for the '13 SHO, we only have the equivalent of a LMS stage 1 tune. Most people who are tuned, that herald how the car feels and performs after getting tuned, are running LMS stage 4. Since initially tuning a '13 SHO, I’ve not see anything from LMS about more options coming out.
bigPelo
There's no such thing as "stages" right now for the 2013. Two tunes are available, 91 or 93 octane. I am running 91 right now and it's pretty strong compare to stock. I understand it's close to stage 4 from previous years model in term of performance but transmission and engine management are a bit different. Rick could tell you more though... KP23
Did any of you put the 170 degree thermostat in with the tune? Is that something I should consider prior to tuning?
tss
I personally did not.
Crash712us
The thermostat will only benefit you with tune with modified fan settings, set to turn on at lower temps.
KP23
I have a $130 gift card to amazon, was going to see if I could find one there before I ordered my tune. If I can't, I probably won't worry with it.
Crash712us
You won't find one on amazon, unleashed tuning and Livernois is it there not off the shelf parts, it's a stock part that's been modified.
