mjhpadi
Are you aware there are two settings to the sensitivity of the light sensor? Maybe that's why yours don't seem to dim like ours do. You know, I can't remember if I was aware that there were 2 settings or not...I will have to check it and try it again...although like 3ponies...I tend not to use high beams very much, normally leaving the lights on low most of the time...but thanks for the reminder...will give it a shot! Maybe that's why yours don't seem to dim like ours do. That's probably their issue. I have my sensativity turned up, so they'll dim for tail lights that are WELL OVER a quarter mile ahead!! My system seems to work perfectly so I leave it active.

turbodave
I'm not sure how close your owners manual is to mine but I'd bet their pretty close. The "Setting Auto High Beam Sensitivity" is on page 99 in my manual, in the LIGHTS section.

The "Setting Auto High Beam Sensitivity" is on page 99 in my manual, in the LIGHTS section. +1 to this. I remeber seeing that there was a sensitivity setting for the auto beams. I havent fooled with it at all. I will agee with the complaints regarding this system. Ive found that 85% of the time they perform normally, with the other 15% me saying ok time to turn off. That being said I love em and use them all the time.
mjhpadi
Checked manual...with ignition on move the light switch from on to auto 3 times in under 2 seconds then use the "flash to pass" 3 times and it will change the sensitivity from near to far....it is factory pre-set to near. Will try it tomorrow on the way to my monthly eye injection.... tss

tss
I wish there was an easier way to turn them off (auto hi-beams) , instead of going through the menu and turning them off. When i need to turn them off, of course it is dark and I am driving and don't like fiddling and scrolling through the menu.
gpfarrell
Turn your fog lights and on and you'll kill the functionality of the auto high beams. I didn't realize that and started this tread in an effort to figure out why mine seemed to work sporadically.

But won't know how it works since the reason I was in the car was my monthly visit to my retina specialist for another injection in my right eye...so between having the eye dilated and the discomfort after numbing wears off, I wouldn't be driving until tomorrow...will wait until then to see how I like the "far" setting.
