Perfect night for racing in Cali

Recommended Posts

Thursday night was the perfect night for racing in southern Cali. I know most of you back east never have to worry about DA calculations because most of your tracks are below sea level or have temps that make the DA adjustment as if you were racing below sea level. Out here in Cali, most of our tracks are hundreds of feet above sea level and we never see temps that adjust onto the positive side of the DA calculations. Irwindale speedway is one of the lowest elevation tracks in So Cal at just 250ft above sea level. With the weather conditions on Thursday night, the DA actually adjusted to -497ft. :) it made me one happy SHO owner.

Myself and 3 buddies drove out to Irwindale and had ourselves a SHO-down. The other three cars were a 98 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP thats fully modded on Ethanol. A 6.0 GTO thats pretty modded as well and finally a 2011 dodge challenger RT with a cam+. None of them could hang with my SHO with only the stage 4 Livernois tune and 100 octane.

My best time of the night was a 8.2 (1/8th mile track) at 85mph and my best 60 ft was a 1.83. Not too bad for having bald tires on a cold night being forced to drive through the water box every time. Ill post the vids tomorrow. In them you can hear my tires screeching half way down the track struggling for traction. It was a pretty good night for So Cal racing. I cant wait to get my down pipe, exhaust, and intake in april. :)

Wow! Good job

8.2 is a very respectable time and 1.83... My best ever was 1.80 and my best run was with 1.83 too I believe, so even if you were hearing tires scream, maybe you were at the optimal point between power and gripping.

I miss drag racing and winter has just started. Still another 4 months off the track for me

THats a good run Shoman. 740ft elevation is nice. Out here' date=' our 1/4 mile tracks are all at higher elevation. Fomosa has probably the best elevation but its in the middle of the bakersfield desert so it usually has high temps.[/quote']

HA EVANS THIS 6.1L SRT8 HE LOOKED GOOD AT THE LINE (Burn-out)BUT AFTER THE LIGHT WENT GREEN THAT WAS THE LAST TIME YOU SEE HIM.LOL I RAN A 13.2 ,HE RAN13.9 AT 95DEG.

To all the losers on Youtube that think the cars I race would beat me in a 1/4 mile race, they are all on crack. Me and 2 buddies went out and raced a half mile last night. It was me in the SHO, the GTP and a Challenger RT thats cammed, intake, exhaust, TB, and thermostat. I beat both of them by a few car lengths. I crossed the half mile mark at about 125mph and we ran it at about 17 seconds. I ran the 1/4 at about a 12.7ish range according to my phones app and the timing of the cameras. It was a pretty fun night. But seeing as they couldnt catch me by the end of HALF A MILE.. I dont think they have a chance in the 1/4

Wow! 1/2 mile, I wish I could try it... My estimation is 0-125mph in about 14.0-14.5 sec. in good conditions.

What was their trap speed at the end?

Good job!
