Measuring intake restriction

Recommended Posts

From what I have found thus far the two popular cold air intakes for the SHO are the K&N and the Airraid, both of which have minimal gains.

What I am curious of, and I can't test without having all three in my possession, is has anyone measured the intake restriction with both of these along with the stock intake.

This can be done by putting a vacuum gauge on the intake between the air filter and turbo, either mechanical or electric, and logging/watching the readings at WOT. If there is any vacuum, the intake is a restriction.

What I am curious to find out is if the stock intake is really good, or these aftermarket intakes just are not enough of an improvement to matter, and there is free power left on the table.

Anyone done anything like this?
