CTCarGuy
I asked my dealer to turn on the daytime running lights and he said he could not find a way to do it. Has anyone been able to turn on the LEDs? If not, can I add a set of LED strips (I have some already) and how can I wire them in? I tried the voltage sensing relays with my 2011 Infinity and was very disappointed. The first failed on install and the second failed after 3 months. They sense the voltage and when it is over 13 volts or so (meaning the alternator is going) it closes the switch. I would prefer to use the lights already on my 2013 SHO. SD13SHO
First, I would find another dealer. My DRL's work fine, and were on when I picked up my '13. I am not sure how they were turned on; however, you can call Ford Customer Service, their number is in the owners manual, and ask them, if another dealer cannot help you. goblues38
I am planing on simply wiring a relay to turn on the parking lights any time the ignition is on. going back on my old days as an auto alarm installer. this is a 10 min job. As it is, i almost always turn the parking lights on while i drive. the amber corner markers + the leds down low just looks sick on my car. It worked for my '10, I don't know if they changed it for the '13. Hope it works out for you.
Jmr061
I read that it is the front parking lights that come on full intensity for the SHO DRL. Is this correct? Wonder if this could be added to a tune file somehow? Jason
Jmr061
I meant to say turn signals not parking lights. They steady burn. Is that correct?

Jmr061
My dealer just told me they charge $115 and hour and programming it shouldn't take longer than that!! Anyone else had them turned on and how much was it? Thanks Jason
Jmr061
Update...quote from dealer "ok the ford tech line will not support us changing this so they will not tell me for sure if it can be done"....wth???? Jason
FoMoCoSho
Don't feel bad, I'm getting the same run around. Ford needs to pull their head out of their ass and be a little bit more responsive to the requests of its customers, especially the ones spending 50 grand on their flagship. dalum
I thought the drl's were disabled because we had HID in the US. You're saying on the '13 it uses the turnsignal bulb instead?
Jmr061
See that attached WORD document. Zip file due to file types that can be uploaded. States vehicles with HID bulbs use front turn signals for DRL and that it is a PROGRAMMABLE feature. Jmr061
Also found this information for another Ford product.... Activating DRL (Daytime Running Lights) REQUIRES PROGRAMMING TOOL!! (using the Ford IDS/VCM) 1. Hook up the tool and identify the vehicle. 2. Go to programmable parameters, exterior lighting. 3. Change from disabled to enabled in the body control module and instrument cluster module 4. Follow the directions on screen for cycling the key or ignition on and off. 5. Clear codes and its done. Jmr061
I aquired the required "tools" to attempt this. When I try it on the SHO it fails and the dome light flashes. Had to reset the BCM back to factory. I did it on a police model and hmmmm, DRL lowbeams!!! Interesting. I was able to enable the dark car feature though. No interior lights when you open the doors. Jmr061
If anyone is keeping up with this (who knows) I sent ford tech a email about it, got kicked over to Rotunda support (IDS,VCM) and explained it to them and they will bring it to Ford's attention. Probably fall on deaf ears but who knows. I'll probably get red flagged in the Ford customer system, lol. Jason
SHOdded
Sounds like the service folks need to start doing their homework and not sit on their butts in their ASE certified uniforms. "See that certificate on the wall? I know what I am doing."
Jmr061
On a side note if anyone is passing through my area (central wi). I can hook up and check all you electronics modules to see if any updates are available. All of them except the bcm did for mine. Of course don't do the PCM if you have a tune in it.
