Switch 2010 for 2013 SHO hahaha!

So, with therecent accidents, I decided to do the same move as the Flex for the MKT. The difference this time is that I didn't want to change the 2010 SHO for a 2010-12 model and there aren't used 2013 SHO for sell.

So, I negociated to buy the demo that the president of my Ford dealer was driving since August (5K miles on it and he is 77 years old).

Basically (more details to come), I will leave them the accidented 2010 blue SHO, they are going to repair it covered with my insurances and I will have the bumper wrapped again covered from the first accident. Then I will have to remove the methanol kit, the Airaid and the Mycal (putting back to stock).

I have never been a sper fan of the new 2013 wheels (I cannot not see a big flower), so I negociated that I keep my 2010 wheels and leave them the 2013's for a discount of 1,500$ on the car.

I seel them the 2010 for a very reasonable price given that it has been beaten, had the tranny rebuilt once (that was my fault... never try a burnout with AWD car!), and two recents accidents, 61K miles on it...

Since I had bought the 2010 used, it was financed at 6,89%! But the new one will be 72 months at 0.99%...

All-in, I will be able to transfer the Airaid, the Mycal and the meth kit, will have a new 2013 SHO PP, black on black with multi contour seats, navi etc. all except adaptive cruise control.

The payments will be 200$ more per month (including the baloon accumulated because I changed cars too often over the last years and everytime, I never had paid enough capital compared to what was left to pay), but will be financed on one year less.

Maybe not the best financial move on the short term, but it will bring me peace of mind and it is 3 years younger!

So, hey guys! I have two new cars in one week, two 3.5L Ecoboost vehicles and two times happy to be part of this forum!

Cheers!

Steve ;)

Awesome. I'm sure most here can't wait to see what you do to the new one. (especially others with black 2013s)

Every time my wife looks at my rims, she says "flowers."

Is there anyone that has installed the 2010 rims on a 2013?

Also, can anyone confirm to me that the engine cover would fit from the 2010 to the 2013... I just realized that I should transfer it since I had it paint in tuxedo black!

Thanks!

WOW Steve, your problem is worse then I thought! LOL I believe the engine cover is the same. You didn't mention what color the 2013 is, also what about your exhaust? Do you still the factory exhaust for the 2010? But as to the wheels thats a good question, I thought someone had done before but not sure or at least it has been discussed.

I mentioned it but with pleasure again Chris:

2013 black on black PP all options except adaptive cruise control.

I will put it the recuparated Airaid, meth kit, Mycal with stage 5 and hood vents.

As for the exhaust, the original is in 5 pieces, but I still have it. I sold the 2010 and they gave me 1,000$ for the wrap, 500$ for the gauges (pod included), 500$ for the exhaust...

When you start modding a car, it is really not sn investment... Especially when you change cars every 2-3 years!

I'll see if I can leave the stock exhaust as is or if I'll mod it... But, for the moment, I think that will be enough expenses in the last few months on cars... The transfer of power will be cheap at least, only the install of the meth kit; but I negociated with the speedshop that had installed it 1,000$ to remove the kit and install it on the new car... I think it's fair.

So, I am sad to let the blue car go but the peace of mind that brings me the 2013 and the fact that I can reuse the main performance parts, compensates more than enough, so I am excited over all.

Just got the 2013!

First time I see the inside... Love it!

But I ll have to explore all the myford touch to learn all the fonctions...

Car looks nice with 2010 wheels but it needs a drop...

Not sure if the hood vents will fit on that hood though...

Here are quick pics. Window tint next week...

hey steve quick question and sorry if i missed it and you explained it which i might of missed it' date=' but what about that year contract or something u mentioned for having your car wrapped,?[/quote']

OK, so, here is one of the reasons I decided to change for a 2013. The 3M vinyl was not as I expected to be in terms of resistance. The hyper cold of Montreal made it very vulnerable. When it is very cold, the plastic becomes very hard and any rock chips of scratches will leave a mark or a small hole. Also, when ice is stuck on a paint, the clear coat protects it, but on the vinyl when there is ice, it's ok, but if you drive the car and it a bump on the road that would make the frame of the car move a bit, then the ice stuck on the vinyl would make it crack...

So, I told the sponsor that it would be better for both parties to end the sponsering. The money received from insurance company to rewrap the bumper will be used to unwrap the whole car and I'll leave the extra money to the guy for the time he had invested at first... At least, my vendor from Ford dealer had given me 1,000$ for the wrap and he is the one that told me that thinking about it, the car woud probably sell better if it was put back in black... The fact that it is dropped and has custom exhaust could already freighten the typical businessman that would want to buy a 2010 SHO.

So, I guess that whole story will have cost me more or less 500$, 1,000$ to the Ford dealer and about 1,000$ in labor time to the vinyl instalor... Not too bad and I got to drive a blue car for a month and a half...

To be continued... wife just got home!

Here is the busy schedule for the 2010-2013 transition... I needed to write it down to make sure I wouldn't forget anything. I need to synchronize all because the dealer needs the 2010 ASAP to sell it back and I need to make it efficient too... It will be a challenge to bring both cars at all places, without anoying my wife with lift requests and working through all that... But if all goes well, I should have my 11's

2013 car ready in two weeks!

To do:

2010:

Roof repair

Return to stock

front pod replacement

Exhaust swap

Methanol removal

Intake removal

Tstat removal

Unwrap

2013:

Exhaust swap with downpipes

Intake install

tstat install

Hr springs install (camber bolts)

Summer tires install

Meth kit install

Tune install

Decals install

Window tint

Spark plugs

Ford dealer:

Window tint

Tstat trf

Intake trf

Spark plugs install

muffler shop:

Trf exhaust

Install downpipes

Put back OEM exhaust on 2010

Fast Lane shop:

Hr springs install

Summer tires install

Alignment

Speedshop:

Trf meth kit + spark plugs

Vic-autos:

Unwrap 2010

Mar 4: order downpipes + mycal

Order camber bolts

Order front panel

Book window tint for Wed

Mar 6: Dealer: window tint, trf intake, trf tstat

Mar 7: unwrap

Mar 8: Fast Lane: HR springs

Mar 11: Muffler shop: trf exhaust and downpipes, put back OEM in 2010.

Mar 14: Speedshop: remove meth kit and install on 2013. Replace front panel. Install spark plugs.

Mar 15: return 2010 to dealer

Mar 17: install LMS tune, decals

Mar 18: Fast Lane summer tires plus alignment.

A lot to do, but the results should be all worth it!

If my 2010 non-PP did 12.09 at 117.93 mph, I can't wait to see this 2013 PP with downpipes is going to do... It should be in the 11's. We've seen that 2013 seem to be a bit faster than

2010's, so I hope this new car will deliver what I expect...

Drag season starts in about a month.

I will keep the 2010 OEM 20" wheels to start the season. They have proven to help traction, so I want to see

What they can do.

For now, I am not in love with their look on the 2013, but once lowered with HR springs, they should look better.

Thanks!

 • 2 weeks later...

So, I had brought my 2010 to be unwrapped (the dealer prefers to sell in in black even though he loved the color). I picked it up this morning... Now it needs to be buffed and washed, but I have to admit, it looks very nice. 2010 tuxedo black, lowered with H&R, with 2013 PP SHO wheels, with Curtis' gauge pod, with tinted windows and head and tail light covers, with HID's... It also has the aux trans cooler 2013 retrofit, the painted callipers, EBC rotors with ceramix pads. It is back to stock now, drives like a charm, very smooth.

Next step is to bring it next Tuesday to remove exhaust and put back OEM one and by the end of next week have methanol kit removed and then return it to the dealer.

...

I still have to do on the 2013: Exhaust swap with the addition of downpipes that I have ordered from Livernois, methanol kit install...

In the meantime, I will tune the car with the mycal I have ordered with the 93 octane LMS tune... I won't have the meth kit installed as long as Livernois can't offer the tune to go with it on a 2013. Rick told me that they have a 2013 SHO for which they will install exhaust with downpipes and methanol kit installed and they will tune it on the dyno... So that equivalent of stage 5 for 2013's is needed for me to have the meth kit installed.

I'll keep you posted for the ones interested... That will be 11's material machine!

Got the 2010 unwrapped Friday... Needs a bath, but the paint is nice, not damaged from the vinyl.

I have 2 SHOs in the driveway this week. I'll have the exhaust swapped and OEM put back on the 2010. Then just the meth kit left...

The dealer put back 4 season tires instead of winter tires and we are expecting 10-15 inches of snow this week!

Here is how they look in the driveway ( neighbors must be wondering wtf? Lol).
