My 2013 SHO w/ LMS93 tune and a K&N typhoon

My buddies G8 w/ tune and Vararam intake

Here are G8 GXP #'s. The guys over Camaro5 http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=278965 are asking the same Q/A about a Tune and Mod Camaro ss. (about 440hp) vs me. The non Mod G8 is only 415hp and 150lb heavier than the SS. This SS w/tune not sure of other MODs ran 12.9 this night but the night I ran the 12.6 he ran 12.8. So THE BEST 12sec run against G8 vs SHO may come down to driver. Our AWD give SHO driver a upper hand at lunch.

The G8 GT has a V8 6L producing 361hp. With a basic tune and an intake, he should be easily over 400hp, more likely around 425hp on octane 93...

His car is about 400-500 lighter and has less drivetrain loss.

Stock GT's run 1/4 mile between 13.4 and 13.8... Stock SHO run about 0.2 sec slower and about 2mph slower.

Now the strenght of LMS tune is not as much in power peaks but availability of power at all rpm.

The increase power on our twin turbo engine is greater than on the G8.

So, I think you'll win mainly because of the start. But the trap speed should be close.

My guess:

SHO: 13.11 at 107.8mph

GT: 13.35 at 106.1mph

Steve, I do believe that you may be a little bit optimistic on the trap speeds there. Under ideal conditions maybe so but G8's stock really aren't all that fast. For them to honestly break into the 13's (non-GXP) stock takes a little planetary alignment. Unless that car has one radiacally beastly tune on it I just can't see it out pulling an SHO. This one should be a slam dunk. The only thing that might make it close is if the G8 driver is SPOT ON. Otherwise, goodnight Gracie. :P

If he was tuned with no passenger, could have been a different outcome...

shoman04 thinks it is a no brainer, but the G8 starts at 361hp/385lbs, 400-500 lbs less and not as much drivetrain loss and a v8 6l as a base to tune...

 

All funny business aside. The stock 5.7L HEMI makes 371hp (with the saftyman holding me) I ran a13.9sec he ran 15.1sec at 97deg. Now a co-worker has a bullydog tune and I've LMS tune. I RAN 13.0 SEC HIM 13.2sec at 95deg. At 400hp or more 2wd most driver can't put the extra pwr to the ground and the extra is not enough catch the SHO.

 

 

SRT8 6.1L 445HP 40HP more and 100lb more. me 13.26sec vs him 13.99sec getting that extra hp to ground with street tires is just real hard for the avg driver. Just like 500hp is hard for the SHO AWD TO PUT TO GND.

I know that you are in hot Houston, but even at 95 degrees, the car should be maximum 0.5 seconds slower than where I run.

Here, a stock Jeep SRT8 pre-2012 will run around 13.2 at 104 mph. Other SRT8 are more difficult to launch but they run 13 flat at 108 mph.

The new SRT8 with 465-470hp run 12.6 at 110+mph (Charger 2012 Motortrend etc).

So, if a Jeep with 425hp, heavier than a tuned G8 that has the same power more or less runs 13.2 at 104, the G8 GT, if the track is well prepped and the driver burns his tires and is experiented should be able to flirt with 13 flat... And the trap speed should be higher then the Jeep's... Pure maths.

Anyways, I love debating with numbers and 1/4 mile stuff and am really looking forward to knowing the outcome... It also depends on the tune...

Rockgt even though Steve is "MASTER JEDI of SPEED" and I'm 1 of his #1 PATAWA'S(JEDI IN TRAINING) iSAY YOU ARE GOING TO KICK HIS BUTT!!! USE the TWIN FORCE(Ford 1st name of EcoBoost)LUKE(that's you)!!!!:fencing: PS 2012 SRT8 are 6.4L vs6.1L older ones. Here is a 6.4L SRT8. Running a 12.5sec pass. On a good day a GM GT,or RT-HEMI tune will not out run a LMS tune SHO!!!!!!!!!

So I went over there to see what they say about the G8 and they are kind of split, some posted # are faster than real world cars. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=254010. And here a VID of stock G8 GT and it seem to be the avg stock real world #'s

Well the race went on today. Lets say I had a nice free lunch. Weather was 39 degrees out. The first run he got the jump and we hit 100 about the same time. Then the next 2 runs I was ahead by a car each time.

OH YEA!!!!!!I TOLD YOU' date='YOU WOULD KICK BUTT.[/size']All you had to do was put the lead in the right foot to good use and you were going to WIN!!!!!!:bounce::car::bolt::first: What was your times and do you have video?

Well done... That is what I thought. At 100mph, one car lenght is 0.1 sec. Over a 1/4 mile distance, that is pretty close... But you were ahead!

At 39 degrees, was he spinning?

If yes, I wouldn't put money if I were you during summer when track is well prepped... He could cause surprises...

Unless you go methanol route and surprise him! Lol

He didn't spin at all' date=' he nailed a great launch each time, in fact I spun a little each time, very little. No times, it wasn't a 1/4 mile or anything, basically a street race off the street. At the track he runs consistent 12.8-9 all day.[/quote']If he can do that in 1/4mi you guys were doing about 8.2sec - 8.4sec in a 1/8mi awesome #'s!!!!

hey congrats on the win and stuff, thats great and just lets people know about the SHO lol, but i like being the sleeper at first and then surprising them, i have a question your saying that you actually spun your tires a lil bit? i didnt know that was possible but if so when did u? im curious.

 

also if hes running 12.8's and you beat him thats pretty impressive, is the lms tune the only mod u have?
