Possible? App says my stock SHO ran 0-60 in 4.32 sec.

Recommended Posts

So I installed an app called Dynolicious on my iPhone, and did a 0-65 launch this morning. Conditions 4,990' elevation, 40F, dry and clear, 48% humidity, 2 gal fuel, car empty except driver (250lbs). Launch at about 2300 rpm.

RESULTS

Acceleration

0-10 MPH: 0.68 sec

0-20 MPH: 1.28 sec

0-30 MPH: 1.89 sec

0-40 MPH: 2.52 sec

0-50 MPH: 3.35 sec

0-60 MPH: 4.32 sec

Elapsed Time

60': 2.17sec@33.2 MPH

330': 5.48 sec@68.7 MPH

Max Acceleration: 0.77 G's

Peak Horsepower: 363 HP

I think most testers have seen a 0-60 in about 5.0 at sea level, 70F. I'm at a higher altitude, but lower temp, so I don't know what the difference would be?

Seems a bit optimistic to get that good a time in a stock, non-PP 2011?

:noidea:

I imagine this is measured with an accelerometer inside the iphone? Was the phone mounted? If so, did you calibrate before doing the test? I know that in the torque app for android you have to calibrate the phone if you change the angle at which it is mounted. 4.3 seems a bit too quick for stock...

If the car is stock, it only has 365 HP at the crankshaft, which means it has about ~280HP at the wheels. I don't know anything about that app, but in Torque you have to enter the weight of the car along with anything it is carrying to get HP/Torque numbers. Did you have ~4600 lbs entered for car weight?

Published tests for 0-60 are right around the 5.2-5.3 mark stock, I can't see 4.x being correct, but that is my opinion.

I would have to agree with the comment above. Most likely have to add weight and a couple other things like slight down hill/uphill alot of different things can be factors. But 4.3 would be extremely fast for a stock sho. Myself with a tune is around the 4.5-4.6 mark(only tried twice so far)

Ok, so I've calibrated the app, and re-run it (it's about +15F warmer now than my first run, so about 55F instead of 40F), and these are the results which seem more in line with what you're saying:

Conditions:

55F, 45% humidity, dry clear and calm, level pavement. 2gal, empty car with 250lb driver. 4,990' alt.

Acceleration

0-10 MPH: 0.71 sec

0-20 MPH: 1.44 sec

0-30 MPH: 2.19 sec

0-40 MPH: 3.08 sec

0-50 MPH: 4.14 sec

0-60 MPH: 5.36 sec

0-70 MPH: 7.04 sec

Elapsed Time

60': 2.31 sec@30.2 MPH

330': 5.96 sec@62.1 MPH

1/8 mi: 9.14 sec@71.6 MPH

Miscellaneous

Max Speed: 73.6 MPH

Max Acceleration: 1.12 G's

Peak Horsepower: 281 HP

So calibration had the biggest difference; but tomorrow morning I'll try again when it's around 40F and see if there's much difference.

I tried the same app, stock and after LMS 93 tune. About 32 F both times. Not sure how accurate it was but it definitely gives you an idea. Even tried Ford Crown Interceptor for kicks. 2010 Interceptor 0-60 at 8.8 seconds.

Anyway, results I got with the SHO are (whether accurate or not?) Launched at 2000 RPM.

Stock:

0-60 5.06

60ft 2.04

1/8 8.50 at 85.4 mph

0-100 11.28

1/4 13.29

LMS Tune

0-60 4.29

60ft 1.89

1/8 8.02 at 88.1

0-100 10.31

1/4 12.48

Even if this isn't totally accurate, it still gives you a good idea of the difference in stock vs tune only.

I still think your #'s are on the generous side.

I am running consistent 12.3's with 60ft's consistent at 1.80, and at 111-113MPH, with all the mod's I have right now, including methanol & cat less....

So umm yea..... but it does provide one with a relative range is suppose.

Rather than relying on these various apps, and programs, and wondering how, or if they're calibrated etc. etc. , you're all (each) better off just taking 'em to the track and run'n the strip

Very cool!

So the tune alone seems to shave almost .8 sec of your 0-60, and .8 off your 1/4. Seems to help the most toward the low end, as that's where most of your gains are. I like that, as for daily driving I'm rarely going to be over 75-85, but I do love the stoplight jackrabbit starts!

I'm curious to know how accurate it is, too. There is a review of an earlier version of the app on Car And Driver where they compared it to their high-end test equipment, and they found the app was typically reporting 0.3 seconds slower than actual speeds. I'd love to get to a real track, but for the moment apps are the best alternative I've got.
