larrylu
Thanks for the heads up on the new forum. I've been browsing for the last few days and this is really a nice site. Great to share info with so many SHO/Ecoboost enthusiasts. I've been thinking about tuning my '10 SHO for some time and finaly pulled the trigger a couple of days ago. I ordered a Mycal and Airraid CAB from Livernois a couple of days ago and I'm waiting anxiously for delivery. I'm a gearhead but my experience is a bit old school and I need to do some serious ramping up. The general concept is not a problem for me but detailed procedure is so vague. I know it must sound stupid to an old hand at tuning but I'd love to have a step by step of the procedure of "flashing". Like....I'm assuming the ignition would have to be on....but the engine not running. Right? Just an example of what I'd love to know before my hardware/software arrives. Ok I know I'm anal. EcoBrick Bob
Some of us are even older school!!! But we learned quickly... Generally, once you receive, you plug in and get the ECM Strategy code. That goes to Livernois via e-mail. Then... they send you the tunes. You load into your tuner via your computer and supplied software. Then you tune vehicle. Anyway that's the simple version for SCT tuners, and I assume the same for Mycal. Then the FUN begins! Everything is done with key on but vehicle not started.... Except the FUN...

bpd1151
I'll echo EBB comments by saying that there are a lot of us old school gear heads here, and others not so much. I can still recall the days of rejetting my double barrel Holley & doin cam swaps & hack'n off my exhaust & installing Cherry Bombs on my older cars, especially my '80 Z28. Egads so long ago. Anyhow, EBB gave you a good breakdown of how to get you started tuning your '10 SHO, if you need any further assistance, i'll be available via PM, & if you should really get hung up, I'd be willing to exchange numbers to walk you through it over the phone. I'll add that both Rick from LMS & Torrie from Unleashed are great EB supporting vendors & are each outstanding @ customer service. So you'll be just fine. Glad you made it over to our EcoBoost Community. Be sure to check back at that other, unfriendly site from time to time, and pass along our info to other 2010 and up SHO owners. Keep us posted on your uploading / tuning and the fun had afterwards :thumb: Mike  Sent from my DROID3 using Tapatalk
Scrming
You old school guys... I'm a computer geek by trade... It wasn't until cars really got computerized did I start to get involved in them! LOL! And to LarryLu, Welcome! Not sure about the MyCal, but it should step your throug the "flash" process, with directions like when to turn the key on but do not start... larrylu
Thanks for the offer and info Mike. I too have done the cams, timing, jetting, and exhaust mods. Seems like cheating to be able to alter so much without having to get greasy hands. Still fun though! I've been out of the car tinkering business for many years as the family grew up and out of the nest. Now I can once again revisit the joys of playing with cars. Of course the streets today are not as tolerant of stoplight to stoplight racing as they were in my youth. All for the best I think. Larry

mjhpadi
Welcome to the forum, and like you I'm one of the old school guys, too. Anyway, I had a heck of a time when I got my tuner and tunes, and then again when I updated the tuner and got Stage 4 and 4+ tunes, but thanks to the guys at Livernois and the guys here, they really helped me A LOT! Without their generous help I would have never got the tunes installed. So if you have any problems, make sure you post up and I know the computer guys will come to your aid. Almost forgot to also mention the guys at SCT, who also provided me with lots of support. One last statement, you will love what the Livernois tunes will do to the performance, bet you will wish you had done it sooner, once you drive the car with the tune installed. Again, glad you joined us!
SHO Rod
Note on ignition on for push button start cars. You must hold button for at least 20 seconds to achieve accessory mode or key on. It's more like 3 to 5 seconds. -Rod
Crash712us
Maybe so in some cars, I was merely relaying LMS instruction.
Livernois Motorsports
Maybe so in some cars' date=' I was merely relaying LMS instruction.[/quote'] I usually tell people to just keep holding it (even if it's longer than needed) or else they call and say they get no strategy found. -Rick
gregoire
It's more like 3 to 5 seconds. -Rod My experience as well.
