Rear scuff plate dirt issue?

Yes, it's an involved procedure which requires the body shop and painting. I have not had it done (no need, I don't drive the car in any rain or snow for that matter)....

 

Here's the TSB in detail.

ISSUE:

Some 2010-2012 Taurus vehicles may exhibit road dust accumulation on the rear door scuff plate area.

 

ACTION:

Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

 

SERVICE PROCEDURE

 

Paint the replacement body quarter trim panel from the Dust Kit to match the vehicle exterior color.

Install the Dust Kit parts. Refer to instruction sheet included in the kit.

Thanks for the input. That is why I asked because I had read about painting and such and was leary about it. I get some light dirt, like it would be misting on the rear plastic piece that is above the rocker. Glad it wasn't just my car. I can live with it probably, just wanted to see if it was a known problem. I live in Northern Maine where the roads and conditions are often crappy!
