Oh, and I cant afford TSW's or some ridiculously priced rims! Because these rim manufacturers/retailers think these rims are made of unobtanium..... I'm willing to bet that you can either customize that red stripe into w/e color you desire, OR..... Have a local painter do it for you after you receive them. There's always ultra-high performance vinyl that you can toss over that red stripe if the mfg'er doesn't offer further customizing. 3M has recently released a crap load of Automotive Grade vinyls in a slew of various tones, colors, shades, metallics, etc..... The bolt pattern you posted is correct, and that size you list is a direct replacement for the stock upgraded, 20" SHO wheel. Good question. I was sorta thinking that the 2010 TPMS might be banded on for some reason, so I was hoping to just swap them over with new bands? bpd1151 Posted February 17, 2012 Report Share Posted February 17, 2012 Don't forget, that unless the company mounting your tires (and sensors) onto your new wheels has that nifty lil tool / wand thing that "activates" the TPMS sensors, they will not even work. If they do use the banded, I'm wondering if it's possible to switch to the valve stem type? I had to buy new sensors for my wife's Tahoe when we installed new wheels. They were valve type and were ~$25 a piece. I would expect the band type to be the same, just have to pay additional for bands and brackets. At some point in 2010, the Taurus did switch to the newer 20315 but most 2010's use the banded type Schrader 28390. Maybe I read it on a forum somewhere?[/quote'] That is correct. Unfortunately due to Ford's coding, they cannot be switched between years. You can use your old sensor pads with new bands. Ford bands cannot be re-used, but your new bands are like enormous hose clamps, so can switch between sets of wheels. If you are using the same tires, not a big issue to switch to new bands and old sensors. Ebay has lots of vendors selling bands. The tool to activate is under $25. (at least mine was) and comes with instructions. Works great. I got my sensors/bands directly from TireRack as I was getting new tires. Figured it was a tradeoff. Free balancing vs higher sensor/band cost. How much are those black wheels with red banded rims? Have seen a similar set on a black I 350 Lexus, and they looked kick-ass! A 20" x 8.5" TSW Interlagos or Nurburgring are around $1,200 shipped for a set of 4 from Discount Tire. Other TSW 20"s are around $1,000 a set, but you don't save much in weight. Seems to be in illinois. Customwheelsexpress also has another style of drifz black rims that has a more subdued red accent on the lip surface for less, and they weigh less, but i don't think they look as good.
