butchtakamine
bought a 2013 f150 3.5 engine with 40,000 miles. i often hear a knock at idle or a little above idle. i hear it in the floor board, hump/ pedal area. dealer says it's the turbo winding up, i'm having a problem believing this. Any ideas ??
SHOdded
Do you hear the thump at idle in any gear or only when it is not in P or N? Turbos should not be winding up at idle anyway. I am inclined to think more driveshaft than turbo. Have you gotten under the F150 while it is at idle to see what might be going on there? Is it rhythmic or irregular? Any signs of fluid leaks underneath? butchtakamine
butchtakamine
SHO: I only hear the knock when idling, not moving in park or drive. it's an irregular knock, when i take off i no longer hear it. I don't hear it all the time. engine temp doesn't seem to matter. No fluid leaks anywhere. The dealership mechanic heard it, said it sounded like a motor mount. After putting it on the lift he found nothing wrong. Said it was probably normal for that engine ?? I can't find anything loose underneath. I've driven it in 4wd high and low and it's normal, quiet. It's very frustrating, Thanks
