Topcat55
Driving down the road at 45mph I heard a load crash on the roof of my car , pulled over an the sunroof was blown apart. Nothing we could find hit the window & there was no other damage any place on the car . Luckly I had the sunroof cover closed or chunks of glass would be all over the inside of the car. It actually looked like it was pushed from the inside of the car. No one I've shown this to has a answer how it happened . Topcat55
markssho
I've read or heard of this in other cars, but, not the Taurus 'yet'. I do know that sometimes tempered glass can sometimes just shatter on its own.
EcoBrick Bob
I had one replaced under warranty in a 1977 Buick Park Avenue... shattered.... Good Luck!
dbulldog
Yes, this can happen and usually is due to improper seating of the glass in the frame mechanism. Should be covered under warranty..... If not, complain enough and Ford will cover it under the "Good Will" program for no more than $50.... Gjkrisa
I've read some where can't find it now but one is that it's pre stressed in mounting and another is there is a compound in the glass that are sharp and sometimes they shift and the glass shatters. The way the glass is made it is always under tension like a prince ruperts drop.
