Squeaky Dash - Easy Fix

Recommended Posts

My EB Flex has been almost problem free! But... I had a squeaky dash at about 1,500 mi. Was worse when cold inside vehicle. Let it sit in the sun, and it would disappear.

Dealer had a hard time diagnosing it, but got it right on first trip. Turned out to be the front dash section rubbing against the defroster vents. Solution was to pop that dash section out and add some felt tape to the each end of the 2 defroster vent tops. Once popped back in place, the vents and the dash no longer made contact. Presto... NO SQUEAK!

Other than that, my Brick has been trouble free... and NO other trips to the dealer in 30,000 Miles!

Bob, it seems like this one should be in the Flex and MKT forum....

This week I've been hearing a squeak in the dash of my wife's MKT. On that one if I apply pressure where the audio/climate control panel meets the console the squeak goes away. This weekend I hope to pull those portions of the console and see were things are loose and/or rubbing.

Agreed... It was one of my first posts.... Got so excited about this site, I never even got the the FLEX area!!!!!

You may want to pick up some of that felt tape if you don't have some. As I recall, when I was taking the dash apart to install Coastal LockPick, there were several places where the tape had been applied at the factory.

Everything came apart rather easily with a set of plastic interior removal tools.

I sometimes get some squeaks from the dash of my 2020 SHO as well. I will take a look at this and see if this applies and I think it may! Very intermittent and when I press or apply pressure to the dash by the sensor, it stops.

Did you have to take the dash out or did you press tape in? And this is the area in between the windshield and the dash up front, correct?
