My SHO HATES our iPhones? what am i doing wrong?

Recommended Posts

so we have both our phones paired, of course. but sometimes, SNYC will get stuck in the bluetooth audio, and sync will not listen to commands. it just stays in BT audio. i have to restart the car, after letting it sit for many 5-10 mins to get this error to fix itself.

at other times, it wont connect to one of our phones. after restarting the car it works fine. it could be our phones, or it could be because its a mircosoft product and it hates my apple phones.

any ideas?

I lean towards the latter. Microsoft and apple not playing well.

We run 2 iPhone 4's still on iOS 5.1.1. I won't upgrade to iOS 6 because so many people report issues and for the most part, iOS 5.1.1 is stable.

Make sure you have the "make default" not checked in the syc setting for Bluetooth Audi. I had that problem with USB. No matter what, any time I plugged in a phone it would start playing USB audio.

Bottom line is, Microsoft relies on hardware installed in the car to do all the work.

Apples new solution (being sold soon in BMW and other jap cars) is to let the phone and Siri do all the work. So the iOS does not play well with all the apple API's and its doubtful the ever will.

Will you buy brand x of a car, so it plays well with your phone?

Or will you buy brand y of phone so it plays well with your car?

Those are the questions consumers will face in the coming years. You can bet windows based phones play very well with sync.

Go to settings and do a master reset it will erase both phones, then pull negative cable for 10 min. This will do a hard reset on APIM. Delete sync from both phones, or forget this device in apple terms and power down then power back up. Re pair the main drivers phone set as primary and then pair other phone. This should work for you. If not do all the above again and go to iTunes and restore phone it will erase and reload your phone then pair again. And if that doesn't work go to dealer and there should be an update for APIM or it may need to be replaced. I speak from experience because I am the SYNC specialist at my dealership!!!

You can go to the USB settings page and turn off autoplay. It won't automatically play your music off your phone anymore.

Strange' date=' I had the same problem, keeping my phone (it was a Samsung) connected to Sync, but since changing to a Motorola Droid Razor, not a problem, nor has my son had any problem keeping his iPhone 4S connected.[/quote']

i would expect a motorola product to be bullet proof working with sync.

As far as my iphone 4 goes. i have no issues with it, except the know issues like (texts not working, and contact photos not working). When IOS6 came out people were comlaining all over the sync boards about broken functionality. So i chose not to upgrade my frimware from 5.1.1 to 6. #1 rule in firmware upgrades, if it aint broke, dont upgrade.
