2010 Taurus SHO Shifter/Handle

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have any info of how to get access to the shifter handle to tighten it down? Mine has developed a bit of a wobble to it and I'll like to tighten it back up. Took a look at it and couldn't visibly see a way to get at it, and some tugging on the surrounding bezels didn't show any that looked like they would easily pop out. Any info/knowledge/schematics I could get would be greatly appreciated.

I had to do this myself when I bought it, it is quite easy, just a little unnerving. What you need is a flathead screwdriver, and gently work your way around the chrome piece right below the shifter handle. There are 2 tabs that snap into the bottom of the handle you need to loosen. Take your time in doing it, you will feel when it disconnects. Once you pull the shift boot down, there are 2 torx screws on the left and right side of the shaft. Tighten those gently, test and you should be good to go.
