Night Hawk
Going to be replacing the original tires (michelins) that I managed to get 93k out of. Any input with replacements with good performance along with decent wear length? I may go with a slightly wider tire if possible.
SHOdded
Michelin Pilot SS and Continental DWS are the 2 top recommendations I have seen for SHO tires. Both have excellent performance (Michelin a bit more so due to stiffer sidewall), and treadwear.
Night Hawk
Ended up going with 255/45/20 General Gmax tires, so far so good, performed well at the track had a few 1.8 60' times and a 12.98 run. SHOdded
Guest Guest
Good choice. I have heard a lot of good things about the GMax. They are reasonably priced too!
mjhpadi
I'm really leaning towards the Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval A/S tires. I am almost positive that's what I will be getting. If you don't get the W speed rating they have a 50K treadwear warranty and pricing seems reasonable. I would love to get them now an replace the stupid Michelin Primacy's that have terrible sidewall cracking (that Michelin won't do anything about), but with only 26K miles on them, it's hard to replace, but if the cracking gets worst I will have to replace them. BTW, these Michelins started cracking when the car was less than a year old...contacted Michelin and they blew me off...I really dislike Michelin and will NEVER purchase them again! tss
^^ I believe a 2010 SHO I recently drove has those - I personally love my Michelins (no issues like you have had Mark), but i made a mental note to myself to consider the Firestones too. They rode well and were definitely grippier than my Michelin.
mjhpadi
Todd, thanks for the review...I really was looking to get Bridgestone tires, but they don't make anything in the 20" that fit our cars! I am really surprised by that and I sent them an e-mail asking if they were going to offer any of their tires in a 245/45R20 size...but never got a response. But since Bridgestone owns Firestone, I decided to go with them.
redshocgo
Good Choice For Future Reference I have Toyo proxes PLUS 4 On My Aftermarket RIM And Love The TBD Are Uhp All Seasons And Are Quiet Sticky And Seem To Corner Rather Well I Paid 150 each For them and they have a 55000 treadle warranty

danhyder
I have the DWS' on all year round and I love them. I can barely get them to chirp off the line (2013 SHO w/ PP and Livernois Tune). Tons of grip in all weather, and especially good in the snow. Amazing tread life too. I think the DWS have dropped to under 900 for the set, i paid 1100 18 months ago.:frown: mjhpadi
mjhpadi
I'm still leaning towards the Firestone Wide Oval A/S but the Continentals are still in the running...I just know never again will I purchase anything with the Michelin name on it! sixtn39
Night Hawk, how are those General Gmax tires holding up? How many miles are there on them now?
