Vishwa Somayaji
I don't see winter tires mentioned many times. I am thinking about buying a set. I am in Canada and some times it can be really bad with snow followed by freezing rain etc. I was wondering if I should go to 18" and a corresponding higher profile to reduce the possible damage from pot holes etc. Right now I have the OEM 245/45r20 Michelin MXV4 primacy tires. Any one with good suggestion? I know I have to go with new wheels with TPMS sensors etc. Thanks in advance.
SHOnUup
Some have been going after the police edition wheels as a cost effective way to handle winter. Rich
Vishwa Somayaji
Thanks. I am not sure where to look for them. I will try.
14SHOWP
Bought a set of 18" mustang gt wheels with sensors already on them and bought a set of winter tires. P235/55R18 this is the size on regular a Taurus. That way I can recalibrate the speedo with a factory size
Vishwa Somayaji
Thanks for this. As a matter of fact, I have been keeping an eye for a set locally here. Haven't found yet but I hope I will find it at least by the end of winter. I am also looking for a set with Ford sensors so that I can calibrate easily. mjhpadi
If I were getting winter tires my first choice would be Bridgestone Blizzacks. I' be heard nothing but good about them. Plus my own experience with Bridgestone has always been positive... great traction, decent tread life, and good handling. Vishwa Somayaji
Thank you for the recommendation. If I am buying new, I definitely will go for them. A decade or so ago, I had a BMW 735i and a set of Blizzacks on a separate rims for winter and they made that RWD BMW driveable in winter here in the great north. However, if I get a package deal with rims, sensors and tires I don't have much choice. So far, however, the stock michelins are doing OK and I may postpone buying the winter set to early spring.
