bamsho
Ok I need some knowledge. I know that the turbos are different between the trucks and transverse platforms, but what other differences are there. When I was checking out how to's about the timing chain cover, read some posts about timing chain noise and something about the water pumps being different. Still confused as to why FORD would make two versions. Hope LME chims in here.
Livernois Motorsports
The primary reasons for the different platforms are the VERY different applications for each vehicle. Although everyone would love a 500 ft lb larger turbo version of 3.5, it is not practical as the SHO will not be towing 12,000 Lbs. The higher TQ demands and lower gearing setups are the justifications for the different platforms.
