SHOTIMENVEGAS
Just picked up a 2016 SHO under 400 miles and this morning noticed some fresh oil spots in my driveway....dealer says were backed up until after xmas, I say BS. This happened to my bmw 335i, could this be a bad oil seal gasket?
SHOTIMENVEGAS
Had the dealer put her up on the hoist & saw no leaks, removed a yellow plastic tie strap that was melting onto the exhaust but that wouldnt explain the physical oil I saw on the ground. Parked the other way on the driveway and ill see tomorrow whats up
bpd1151
Absolutely positive it was oil? Could've been PTU fluid overflowing out from vented cap. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk DaveE
SHOTIMENVEGAS
Hmmm....appeared to be, funny thing is after we took off the cover under the oil pan there was no signs of drips/leaks, where the supposed leak was comming from...is the the ptu cap in this area, also I hear that needs to be lubed at 20k? bpd1151
Located on psgr side of the car. But remember, like water, it will follow path of least resistance. So if it is the PTU as I suspect, it may be presenting elsewhere. Follow its path of travel to source. DaveE
I had the same thing with my PTU after the first time I wailed on it pretty good. It stopped. Just a little over fill.
SHOTIMENVEGAS
Nothing leaking this morning in the driveway, so looks like that could've been the issue, let's hope it's the last. DaveE
