IowaFoSho
Has anyone else had a problem with their ACC disabling. The first time it happened to me I was driving in the snow and understand that the sensor probably had some snow on it. I don't know why it also happens when I drive in the rain. What I don't like when this happens is that it completely disables the use of the cruise control. Does anyone know how to enable the cruise control to work like a normal CC without using the sensors when this happens?
mjhpadi
I have had it disable in heavy rain, I think I remember a sensor blocked warning in the info box in the speedo. But I don't know how to disable or if you can disable the sensors. I just quite driving in the rain....:RpS_unsure:
The Bone
do not drive in the snow or rain with the cruise on its dangerous. Its probably written in the manual
mjhpadi
No I meant that since the SHO is not needed as a daily driver, it doesn't have to be taken out in bad weather...hence avoiding the problem with the dirt on sensor.
Crash712us
Its normal, rain and snow shut it off.
mjhpadi
I kinda figured it was normal operation, but I still prefer not to take the car out in bad weather...just like keeping it clean and mostly free of moisture.
SickSHO10
im having trouble getting mine to even work.... any ideas? i followed the manual and everything. am i missing something??
HeelBird
The shut down has happened with me several times...evidently it is indeed a safety feature to force one to actually "drive" the car instead of leaving it on autopilot.
Saucemaxx
It's happened with my SHO as well, sometimes in bad weather, sometimes on random nice days. Another thing that stops working when the acc stops is the collision warning, that is a safe feature to have working in bad weather.
HeelBird
indeed....I guess the engineers need to develop a radar signal that can differentiate between moisture and a solid object.
larrylu
I have had issues with "collision avoidance" announcing it could not function in heavy rain or snow. I have never used ACC in heavy rain or snow but I think they both are bundled together as options because they use the same forward aimed radar and I assumed that in heavy precipitation they would probably get some false signals. It always clears up by itself as soon as the weather does. I have never minded because I'm not to crazy about the collision avoidance anyway and though I absolutely love the ACC I'm sure not using it in heavy weather. EcoBrick Bob
My good friend who was a lifetime Ford employee, has had this on his last several Lincoln MKX (edge lookalike?). Told me how much he likes it, but that it does shut down in heavy rain or snow, for safety reasons, as it can't accurately sense distance, in those conditions.
