SERVICE PROCEDURE

This valve body modification is only available for transmissions originally built with MERCON® LV listed on the dipstick.

There is a new calibration and transmission valve body change to correct this condition. The valve body change was to delete one hole in the valve body separator plate and remove one check ball from the valve body in the same area where the hole in the separator plate was deleted.

NOTE: IF THIS PROCEDURE IS NOT FOLLOWED CORRECTLY, ADDITIONAL NEW CUSTOMER SYMPTOMS WILL BE PRESENT, SUCH AS LOSS OF REVERSE OR 2-3 SHIFT FLARE.

For all model years except 2009, proceed to Step 2. For 2009 model year vehicles, verify the transmission dipstick has MERCON® LV listed on the dipstick.

Yes - The dipstick has MERCON® LV listed on the dipstick; proceed to Step 2.

No - The dipstick does not have MERCON® LV listed on the dipstick; this procedure does not apply. Follow normal Workshop Manual diagnostics.

Reprogram the PCM to the latest calibration using IDS release 73.04 and higher. This new calibration is not included in the VCM 2011.5 DVD. Calibration files may also be obtained at http://www.motorcraft.com.

Remove the transmission valve body. Refer to the Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 307-01.

Replace both separator plates listed in the Parts List. The X identifies the hole in the valve body separator plate which will be eliminated. (Figure 1)

TYVM Mike. I kinda figured 11-12-10 would read like the others. But There is hope for my door seal. Now I just have to part with my car for a day or two. Is there a site we can subscribe to to get the TSB's?

Since I'm the person that offered all the TSB information, it's probably best that I respond.

If there is a site to do this, I am not aware of it at this time. If you 'Google' the TSB (i.e. Ford TSB 11-12-10), there are many responses including the PDF. I wish I could offer the links but this is a secure site. I'm sure you'll understand. I will of course update Mike as new TSB's come and help out the community as much as I can.

Have a great day!

Brian

What I have found (at least with my dealer), that unless there is a problem, they aren't wild about performing the TSB, however, if you have a problem and it involves a TSB they are more then willing to fix it. I always have told them, if I were experiencing something and I knew there was a TSB on it, I tried to give them the number. Only exception was the brake fix on the '10's. They did that work without my experiencing any problem...well, not completely true I was getting a bit of noise from the original brakes.

Mike,

Thanks for the additional links on TSBs! I wanted to offer an alternate to the NHTSA link provided. This link will take you more directly to the "safety" items, and list TSBs. On the other link, if you fill in the info in the prominent blue box, it'll actually just return complaints, and the service bulletin info will be "zero".

Hope this helps some. I look forward to owning a 2010-11 SHO w/ PP, soon.

BIG thanks to dbulldog for all the info provided, as well!
