Drock
I just bought a 2011 sho and here in PA the weather is crap right now. Last night it was snowing and when I pulled out the front tires spun and made a god awful grinding or weird metal rubbing sound. Any ideas? I have other awd cars and none do that when the tires slip. mval
mine hasn't been out in snow for a long time, but sounds like could be the ptu. they aren't supposed to need service but!!!
tss
You sure it wasn't the traction control? Thats a grinding type noise/feel when engaged.
mjhpadi
^^That was my thought, have you had any noise since? Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk
SHOnUup
Had the same noise first time out in the snow...haven't heard it since. Rich
brucelinc
Your description sounds like normal traction control function, as TSS suggested.
Drock
It is the traction control, the light blinks when this happens. It just sounds really weird to me. When I turn the traction control off the tires spin as normal and makes no sound. I've just never had a car make that noise when the traction control kicks in. Drock
Also, when I put the car in manual and use the paddle shifters. It only upshifts and does it from both paddle shifters. When I'm on the brakes and I try to downshift the gear indicator just blinks. . I didn't get an owners manual with the car (they are ordering me one) so sorry if I sound like a newbie
Drock
Nevermind.... Both paddles shift both ways... That dealership needs to get me an owners manual soon.. Lol
tss
Glad you figured it all out. I have had several cars and trucks (GM) that make the noise when traction is engaged. I think because the SHO/MKS are so quiet generally, the noise seems more pronounced.
