kcobra
It seems ever since they updated my computer that my shifting isn't as good. Low speeds, the car hunts back and forth. The car also lugs alot more before shifting thus causing a jump into the lower gear. Anybody experience this?
RedCandySHO
It is possible the transmission is learning. After you reprogram the PCM, the transmission needs to learn how to behave. This is from one of Ford's TSB's. "PLEASE ADVISE THE CUSTOMER THAT THIS VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH AN ADAPTIVE TRANSMISSION SHIFT STRATEGY WHICH ALLOWS THE VEHICLE’S COMPUTER TO LEARN THE TRANSMISSION’S UNIQUE PARAMETERS AND IMPROVE SHIFT QUALITY. WHEN THE ADAPTIVE STRATEGY IS RESET, THE COMPUTER WILL BEGIN A RE-LEARNING PROCESS. THIS RE-LEARNING PROCESS MAY RESULT IN FIRMER THAN NORMAL UPSHIFTS AND DOWNSHIFTS FOR SEVERAL DAYS." bpd1151
So given that mere verbage from FMC...... I would drove it like I stole it so the PCM "learns" to shift like she was leaving pit row. LOL. Kcobra are you running any aftermarket tunes or still rock'n the stock file?

kcobra
The thing just doesn't downshift fast enough. Lugging alot. Not like before. Weird. Preferred how it was before.
EcoBrick Bob
Maybe they can put a different strategy into the ECM.
bpd1151
If you were to bring it back to the dealer for a second glance over.... I would expect for them to keep it at least 1 day in order to be able to drive it around in order to recreate what it is that you're currently experiencing. I would agree with EBB though.... different strategy for the ECM, or hell, ask 'em to return to what it was previously so that you now know the distinct differences between the two. kcobra
Dealership mechanic told me once the updates are done, there is no turning it back. WTF?
EcoBrick Bob
Must be Ford's policy.... Perhaps the dealer gets the strategy directly on line, so may not have access to old strategy coding.
kcobra
I'm hoping either Torrie's tune or Rick's (whomever I go with) will improve this crap.
EcoBrick Bob
Both tuner tune packages change tranny shifting parameters. However, I am running a new Flex strategy code from FORD.. System is completely stock except for smaller tires & much lighter wheels. My tranny is shifting great, and quite similar to the tuned versions, at least in normal driving. Haven't noticed any searching or slow downshifts in around 2,000 miles in last 3 wks.
Crash712us
Sounds like something I have read before about a bad range sensor or something. Not exactly positive about, but sounds familiar.
EcoBrick Bob
Has anyone posted a listing of all TSB's to date for SHO, FLEX EB, & EB 150? (I'm lazy...) I usually go to another place to check..... hint...hint LOL
