Jojomofo21
Revised!!! Ok so I bought a couple cans this week and decided it was time to get to work blacking out all the crappy chrome. Here is what's have so far. The window trim and lower grill trim are next in my crosshairs. Then the wheels. I was bored as hell so I tackled the big one! I LOVE the new look. Enjoy.
mhenne4
Great work, been debating doing that to mine. I've got a silver SHO with black as my accent color on the mods I've done.
markssho
Looks great! Makes it look like the SHO in the new MIB3 moview. Nice!

mjhpadi
Looks good, but I do like the chrome and silver accents on my red car...well, I would like a different grill, just not sure the Mobsteel is what I'm looking for.
gregoire
Like, inspired me to do some of my own, :RpS_thumbsup: http://www.ecoboostownerforums.com/showthread.php?600-It-s-catching-more-plasti-dip
Rratedroush
I did the same looks good but the grill started to bubble in the two middle ribs because the three piece grill air space in those hole I had to take the grill apart the second time so it wouldn't bubble might save you some money
Got5onIt
Looks sweet murdered out like that!!!
SpoolinX2
That looks badass! I've been pondering doing the same to mine...question...what did you do with the chrome? Are you removing it first, or just spraying the Plasti-dip over it? If you're removing it, what are you using?
Jojomofo21
Just tape off and spray away. Peel off what you don't want. Go to http://www.dipyourcar.com for instructional videos.
EcoBoostSHO
Can you get those inserts for the LED lighting on the front off the car from the front with a flat putty knife or did you go in from the wheel well? I'm turning my black as well. Major props on the PlastiDip job...looks great! I would be interested in how it holds up on wheels...well specifically how easy it is to get brake dust/gunk off of them. Jojomofo21
You can remove everything with minimal effort without removing anything major. I will let you know how the wheel cleaning goes.
Watts
I'm also curious on the window trim - would a touchless car wash pull the edge up? What about a polisher with a pad on it? Wondering how durable this stuff is....
Jojomofo21
A polisher will definitely take it off. I am looking into a more permanent solution right now. Just don't want to spend a million dollars for a paint shop to do it. All other pieces have held up to multiple washes even through a auto wash. Watts
I'm planning to do this when i get a SHO - i'm mostly concerned about the window trim thinking that that would get a lot of abuse. Let us know how it holds up!
casperl878
looks nice, i have a black one, but i like the all black with chrome i think it breaks it up, i have the stock rims chromed, but your car does look sweet !!
guags99
I havent gone as crazy with the plastidip as you, but I have been considering a bit more. I do like a bit of chrome but do want to tone down the grill with smoke, but not sure yet that i like the result. Nice job!
SpoolinX2
Thanks for the tips you've posted! I did the trunk chrome strip and around the taillights this weekend and love the look of the black on silver. Gonna attempt the grill this weekend. sixtn39
How are the dip't wheels holding up?
Jojomofo21
Many washes later, both automatic and hand, the wheels are still holding up great. I think the key is how thick you go and how many coats you apply. I have had zero issues.
since 1964
I thought that stuff came right off when you wash the car? I would think it will peel and rub off the chrome no?
sixtn39
Thanks Jojomofo21. I am tempted to do the wheels. Regarding automatic car washes, the one I use is a drive through with whirling brushes, sash-shaying curtains and the attendant has a nasty sounding spray wand. It reminds me of a hammer drill, because it pulses with increased pressure as he sprays the car prior to entering the tunnel of brushes and various spray contraptions. I cringe when he sprays the grill area, where I have done some Dippn', but each time (10-12) the grill is intact. Another thing I have noted is that bugs come off the Dipped areas easier than the chrome and painted areas when I hand wash the car.
Echo42987
I really like how the wheels turned out. This would look really good on my platinum white. I hope it's still holding up pretty good. If I do this I might put a final clear coat over the wheels.
Echo42987
Did you peel any of the chrome off before putting this one? Especially on the tail light chrome? Mine has already started to chip up really bad and don't want to paint it without taking the chrome off, was just curious if someone had a quick way of doing it?
