mjhpadi
Well, your photo isn't the biggest, so it's a bit hard to see how dirty the filter really has gotten. But I changed mine at 15K and was amazed at how dirty it was even at that mileage. I would suggest changing them at about 20K miles. They really do gather a bunch of gunk! SHOdded
Amazing what all winds up in there. Did you go with a charcoal or regular filter replacement?

mjhpadi
I have not been able to find any but the Ford replacement in my area. No one seems to care the cabin air filters for our cars. Most places have them for our 99 Sable, hopefully when I need another, the stores around here will carry the ones for our cars.

Me too, every 12 months, they are pretty cheap and I buy the Genuine Ford filter. My autoparts store actually carried them.

83racecrew
FRAM makes them for our cars too (with Arm and Hammer): http://www.framcatalog.com/PartDetailWindow.aspx?b=F&pn=CF11176 Should be available at many auto parts retailers and superstores (like Walmart/Sam's/Costco)

shobiz
I was in getting my car serviced today, and the dealer wanted $70 to change the filter!! I said no thanks, I'll do it myself.

Then I would ask why they wanted so much, since it's like a 5 minute job...I would think they would have a heck of a time justifying that quote if you knew how easy it was to change it. I thought, jeez, I can't think of an easier task than to put a new filter in there. They also wanted to do a fuel-injection clean for $130, clean the battery terminals and put in those terminal pads for $25, and something else (I forgot what, didn't seem significant) for another $130. I'm thinking maybe that dealership might not be a good one to make my service "base".
